All The News That’s Fit To Know
Since I started designing this website the world has changed.
On this website and our podcasts we have highlighted some of the positive strides made around the globe in dealing with environmental issues and planetary health.
But unfortunately, the United States federal government and many US state and local governments are currently run by climate deniers and polluters for profit.
The environment and planetary health should be a bipartisan issue. Indeed many republicans and conservatives do want better environmental protections. But unfortunately, for the most part, it is not currently the case that both parties are willing to make an effort to protect the environment to protect ourselves. In fact, even when it makes economic sense the Republican party is irrationally against cheaper, clearner energy and resonable pollution controls. While the Democratic party has not been perfect in protecting planetary health, the Republican party, in its current incarnation, has been worse than unimaginably abysmal.
Changing this is now a top priority.
Also, since I designed and implemented this website more than five years ago people are more aware of the issues and more resources are available now.
I will occasionally post news items, but I find there are amazing people in wonderful groups who deserve your attention. The list below are those I primarily go to in order to keep up.
This list below is not complete by any means. For example, environmental advocacy and legal groups are also often good sources of information. Please support them and avail yourselves of their services. Many are not behind a paywall (or are only partially so) and will send you emails to keep you updated.
Environmental Health News is a wonderful resource that will send stories to your email, or you can go to their website. “EHN: above the fold” is a ”weekday roundup of top environmental health news.” EHN is not limited to climate change, but covers many aspects of environmental health threats and planetary health. They have specific newsletters such as plastic pollution, children’s health and the environment, Science Saturday and weekend reader on planetary health, sustainable medicine, above the fold (“today’s top environmental heath news”), as well as a Spanish language edition.
Grist has a wealth of news about the environment and you can sign up for emails.
Inside Climate News is a “Pulitzer prize-winning … non-partisan” site. Like Environmental Health News They cover a range of environmental issues and they will send emails to you if you wish.
Yale Climate Connections “It’s easy to take climate action. Find the solutions that work best in your life. You grow your impact when you get your neighbors, friends, family on board too.”
Climate Central “researches and communicates climate change impacts and solutions”
Climate Action Now a coalition of climate groups centered on taking action.
Covering Climate Now is geared towards providing material for journalists; it is an excellent resource.
Heatmap News is also a great resource I use extensively. Just today (May 14, 2026) Heatmap reported that solar is overtaking coal in Texas of all places!
Carbon brief “clear on climate”
Positive.News “the latest in green energy news”
Bloomberg Green Daily unlike some Bloomberg sites is not behind paywall
On Substack there is Climate and Health News. Also, individual experts and activists like Katherine Hayhoe and Bill McKibben (The Crucial Years) are on Substack. I am a fan of Paul Krugman, a Nobel prize winning economist. The environment is not his main area of expertise, but he does post economic analyses of what is going on regarding the environment and energy. Hannah Ritchie, of the group Our World In Data, is on Substack. She recently wrote a book “Clearing the Air”; some environmentalists will disagree with some of her conclusions, but at least she is data driven.
